Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): RTI activist Ashish Chaturvedi, known to be one of the whistleblowers of infamous Vyapam Scam that rocked Madhya Pradesh, was booked for allegedly abusing SAF jawans and threatening to kill them.

The incident took place in Chandrabadni of Jhansi Road police station area, where some jawans were posted for Chaturvedi’s security.

Police have registered a case against Chaturvedi on Monday and started investigating the case on the basis of a few audios submitted by victim Ramu Singh Kushwaha as evidence.

According to information, Ramu Singh Kushwaha is posted as 13 Battalion in SAF and originally hails from Bhind. He was assigned the security duty of RTI activist Ashish Chaturvedi in 2022.

Along with him, ASI Sarvesh Singh, constable Nandkishore Bohra, and Yogendra Singh were also posted on the duty. The SAF jawan accused Chaturvedi of forcing them to do his household chores and would abuse them if they refused to perform the domestic work. The victims alleged that he even threatened them to burn them alive if they did not take his orders. The complainant said that sometimes he would even threaten to get him terminated.

Constable Singh complained about the activist to his seniors, but his duty remained unchanged.

SP Dharamvir Singh said that RTI worker Ashish Chaturvedi was provided security under the Jhansi Road police station. Guards were deployed for his security. An application has been given at the police station by his security personnel that Chaturvedi is constantly harassing them and giving them death threats.

After investigation, a case has been registered under 353, 506, and 294 of the IPS Act. An audio clip has been given by the security personnel as evidence.
