Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Delay in probe over his complaint of irregularities in appointments at the School of Excellence For Eye, RTI activist Kamal Goswami has announced a sit-in protest on January 23 at MGM Medical College campus.
He claimed that despite repeated requests and a directive issued three months ago by the commissioner of Medical Education Department, the probe panel failed to submit its report in three months even when a deadline of 15 days were given to complete the probe. The report pertains to alleged irregularities in the appointments of assistant professors at the School of Excellence for Eye in 2019.
Goswami alleged that Dr Mita Joshi and Dr Tina Agarwal were appointed without proper applications or qualifications and that discrepancies were also found in the appointment of Dr Rishi Gupta. His complaint, backed by evidence obtained through the RTI Act, led to the formation of a three-member inquiry committee, which reportedly confirmed these issues in its preliminary findings.
“Even after multiple assurances, no action has been taken in the matter and officials are sitting on the report to save the guilty facility members,” Goswami said. Meanwhile, the probe panel member Dr Preeti Rawat didn’t respond to the calls to comment on the same.
Complaint of reservation roster irregularities at Dental College
Dr Subhash Sonkesariya, associate professor in Dental College, has lodged a complaint with the chief minister, alleging violations in the reservation roster for promotions in the Prosthodontics Department at Government Dental College, Indore. He claims that as per General Administration Department guidelines, the third position in the reservation roster, following the retirement of Dr Deshraj Jain, must be filled by a Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidate.
However, he alleges that Dr Alka Gupta, Head of the Department, is manipulating the roster to benefit a specific individual, bypassing rules. Dr Sonkesariya also cited a 2021 order from the Medical Education Commission, which mandates reserving at least one post for ST candidates in such departments. He said that the ST vacancy is being unconstitutionally de-reserved. He appealed to the CM to take immediate action to address this issue and ensure fairness in filling reserved positions, highlighting similar concerns in other medical colleges.
