Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A senior functionary of the RSS Suresh Soni has said the problems occur for two reasons: forgetfulness and wrong information. Soni made the statement at the foundation-laying ceremony of Dattopant Thengadi Research Organisation in Bhopal on Monday. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav performed the Bhoomi Pujan of the building.
Forgetting what people have learnt has become a problem with the academic world in India, Soni said. Lord Macaulay once wrote that Indians would be identified by the colour of their skins, but their thoughts would be as the people of other countries felt about India, Soni said.
According to Soni, educationist DS Kothari also said that the major problem with the intellectuals in India is that their gravitational centre lies outside the country. This centre should be brought back to the country, and people of India must understand themselves through the research centres, he said. In rural areas, women sing songs when they work, but in the present situation, singing during working hours has become a thing of the past; the people have even forgotten how to laugh, Soni said.
Gurukul system and universities which are traditionally in vogue in India express wisdom of Indian society, Yadav said. In Indian culture, the people using every moment of their lives for society’s benefits may attain salvation in their life time, Yadav said. Indian thought encourages love and friendship among people instead of struggling for selfish motive, he said, adding that an institution, like Dattopant Thengadi, is the need of the hour to understand various aspects of tribal life and Indian philosophy.
