The news of Rohit’s retirement came at a time when the selection committee decided to remove him from the captaincy of the Test team. Apart from this, the possibility of getting his place in the team for the tour of England also seemed less.

Rohit wrote in his post, “I would like to inform you all that I am retiring from Test cricket. It is a great respect for me to represent my country in white jersey. Thank you for your love and support over the years.” However, Team India veteran batsman Rohit clarified that he will continue to play in ODI format right now. He said, “I will continue to represent India in the ODI format.”
