Roads Worth ₹60k Crore To Be Built In MP In Three Years; Pwd To Carry Out 99 Projects Worth ₹100 Crore | Representative Image
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Road construction will be put on a faster track in the coming days. Public Works Department (PWD) has chalked out an elaborate plan for construction of roads.
The construction agency has got ₹60 crore sanctioned for the coming three years. The work on some of the roads is going on. Tenders will be released for several road projects from April. PWD and the corporations that function under it will jointly carry out the work.
Ninety-nine works worth over ₹100 crore have been approved. These works would be of ₹29,000 crore.
Similarly, 778 works ranging from ₹15 crore to ₹100 crore have also been sanctioned. The cost of these works will be ₹33,000 crore. Besides Road Development Corporation and Building Development Corporation, different units of PWD will execute the work.

Apart from the state highways, the roads in the city have also been approved. According to Additional Chief Secretary Neeraj Mandloi, the budget for PWD has been increased from ₹7,800 crore to ₹11,000 crore this year. Apart from this, the work will be done with the help of funds from the Central Government and other sources.
According to Mandloi, the plan has been prepared for three years. Not only that a MoU worth ₹1.30 crore has also been signed with the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) at the Global Investors’ Summit (GIS). Such works will also begin soon.
