Aurangabad: Over 400 Unsafe Hoardings in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Spark Safety Concerns |
The Development Plan (DP) for the city has several discrepancies despite the detailed study for two years, expenditure of around Rs 22 crores and a wait for around 33 years. The residents are dissatisfied with the DP. The DP unit had conducted the hearings of around 8,000 residents, still the big roads have been shrunk and the cancelled reservations of the lands were included again. The people claimed that the reservations were changed directly at the Mantralaya. Moreover, the process of complaining about the reservation has become so complicated that the people are in chaos as to where to go for getting justice. Without considering the geographical region, increasing population and technical issues, around 40 reservations for schools, gardens, grounds, hospitals, bus stands, traders’ complexes, and others at Padegaon – Mitmitta – Ravarspura sector 1 have been cancelled. Moreover, these reservations were not included in any other sectors, the sources said.
The network of roads was established in the Padegaon – Mitmitta area to increase connectivity. There were around 20 roads, which have been changed now. Nineteen roads have been cancelled and the alignment of eight roads has been changed. The changes were made despite providing TDRs to these roads. The width of the road in Jaisinghpur has been reduced from 43 meters to 23 meters now. This road connects Nashik Highway to Bhavsinghpura. Moreover, two roads are included in a single gut in Padegaon. These roads have been included in Gut No. 53 and 54. One of these roads is proposed only for the benefit of a person who has taken 20 guntas of land in Gut No. 54.
The local officers are not ready to say anything about the changes in the DP. They say that the reservations are cancelled directly at the Mantralaya and hence the local officers cannot say anything about it.
The residents claimed that there has been large-scale corruption while drafting the DP. The officers have political support and hence the technical changes have been made for the benefit of the few, they claimed.
