Mumbai: As the concretisation and road projects have massively dug up the city, Mumbaikars have been struggling through the issue severely due to road blocks and pipeline damages. A recent issue was raised by a resident of Santacruz West where road construction workers accidently broke the LPG gas pipeline of a society.

An X user has brought an incident in view addressing breakage of the Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) pipeline in Santacruz West which led to widespread of flammable gas and cut off in about 20 houses in the morning hours of April 2.

The Mumbai resident posted on their X page, (@Aashin_A_Shah), complaining over the issue, stating, “This morning, road workers broke the @mahanagargas pipeline, leaving 250 flats without gas. Smell is everywhere. Grateful to MGL for their quick response. But the contractor at Tps-6,Road 3 & 5,Santacruz W, has damaged Adani line,water line & now gas! Negligence or incompetence?”

The Mahanagar Gas emergency van arrived to the quick fix of the issue, repairing and restoring the broken pipeline. The resident stated that it is a recurring issue due to the negligence of the contractor working on Tps-6, Road 3 and 5, Santacruz West. The user also emphasises that earlier similar issues with Adani line and water pipe was seen in the area due to the road work.

Pipelines Erupt During Road Development In Mumbai

Another incident of excavation near a gas pipeline leads to a fire. Three citizens sustained burn injuries. Authorities remain unaware of which agency was excavating the road during the midnight hours of March 9. Various such incidents have taken place in the recent days within the city due to negligence.
