A new chess star is in the making in Mumbai and goes by the name of Zain Jay Nagrecha.
Zain is a seven-year-old first grade student of BD Somani International School, Cuffe Parade and is making waves in the world of chess with his
extraordinary talent and unyielding determination.
The young boy clinched the gold medal in the recently concluded Under-7 Mumbai Children’s Chess Championship, the largest of its kind, featuring over 200 participants from across Mumbai.
The highlight of Zain’s performance was that he scored an impressive 4.5 out of five points in the tournament demonstrating exceptional skill.
It was an exhibition of fast calculations ad unwavering focus on the board. The high energy levels and strategic acumen have already made him a standout in the world of competitive chess.
Zain trains under the guidance of coach Durga Nagesh Guttula , the chief Coach at SMCA Chess School, Pedder Road.
The BD Somani student’s training regimen includes two hours of chess practice daily, where he hones his skills and sharpens his strategies with unrelenting dedication.
The youngster is inspired by one of the best chess players in the world, Magnus Carlsen and he dreams of following the footsteps to reach the pinnacle of chess excellence.
With his eyes set firmly on the future, Zain is currently preparing for the Prestigious National Schools Under-7 Championship which will take place in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, next month. “This victory is a testament to Zain’s hard work, discipline, and innate talent.
He is an exceptional young player, and we are proud to have him as part of the SMCA Chess School family,” said Durga Nagesh Guttula, Zain’s coach.
