Rishabh Pant has become the target of relentless trolling on social media after another underwhelming performance in IPL 2025. The Lucknow Super Giants captain failed to make an impact, scoring just 2 runs off 5 balls in a match against Punjab Kings.

His poor run of form has sparked a flood of memes and harsh criticism online, with fans mocking his struggles and questioning his value, especially given his status as the most expensive player in IPL history.

Bought for a staggering INR 27 crore at the IPL mega auction, Pant was expected to lead LSG to success. However, his performance has fallen short of expectations, managing just 17 runs in three matches. The mounting pressure of his hefty price tag, combined with his inability to deliver on the field, has fueled the scrutiny surrounding him.

The trolling has extended beyond his batting, with questions raised about his leadership abilities as LSG’s captain. To make matters worse, old comments made by Pant about Punjab Kings resurfaced, where he had admitted to being nervous about their record auction purse, as he only wanted to be picked by LSG. These remarks have only added to the memes mocking his current struggles.

Here’s what fans had to say about Pant’s flop show

Punjab Kings cruise to easy win

In Tuesday’s match, Punjab Kings’ captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to bowl first at Ekana Stadium. Lucknow Super Giants, fresh off a victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad, went with an unchanged playing XI. However, their batting crumbled early, with openers Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram both falling cheaply.

With Nicholas Pooran at the other end, Rishabh Pant was tasked with anchoring the innings but once again failed to deliver under pressure. Shreyas Iyer brought Glenn Maxwell into the attack, and the Australian all-rounder outwitted Pant. In an attempt to play a risky shot, Pant handed an easy catch to Yuzvendra Chahal at short fine leg.

LSG managed to put up a total of 172 runs in their 20 overs. However, Punjab Kings chased down the target with ease, securing an 8-wicket victory with 22 balls to spare.

Prabhsimran Singh was the star of the show for PBKS, scoring a brilliant 69 runs. Skipper Hreyas Iyer remain unbeaten on 52 runs to help his team cross the finish line.

The win is a significant boost for PBKS, who will be looking to build momentum in the tournament. On the other hand, LSG will be disappointed with their loss, but they will have to regroup and focus on their upcoming matches.
