Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) new captain Rishabh Pant has learned leadership skills from Indian captain Rohit Sharma and other senior players of the national team. LSG has started a new journey by reposing faith in Pant, who is known for his fearless batting. Pant made his international debut under Virat Kohli in 2017 and has also played with inspirational players like Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Pant said, “I have learned about leadership from many captains and senior players. You should learn not just from your captain but from all the senior players.” He said that considering the changing environment of the game, the experience of senior players is important.
Pant shared his experience with Rohit Sharma and said, “I have learned from him how to take care of a player. When I captain the team, I also have to fulfill the same responsibility. If you trust a player, he will do things for you that you can’t even imagine.”
LSG bought Pant for Rs 27 crore, making him the most expensive player in IPL history. He said, “We will support the players and try to give them confidence. Clear communication is important to us.”
Pant also talked about reuniting with Zaheer Khan, who is now LSG’s ‘mentor’. Zaheer praised Pant’s progress, saying that he has a lot to offer to the game. Pant said, “One thing that is important is the spirit of never giving up. You fight till the last ball, and that’s what I always emphasise.”
