The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) told the Calcutta High Court on Friday that his investigation into the case of rape and murder of a trainee doctor in RG tax Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata has revealed that it was not a case of “gang rape”. Hearing a petition filed by the victim’s parents for re-investigation into the case, the CBI said that the incident was not a gang rape but rape. Because only one man’s DNA was found.

 

Only one person’s DNA found: CBI

The CBI told the Calcutta High Court that there was no rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College, as only one person’s DNA was found in it. The case of rape and murder of a female doctor in RG Kar Hospital was quite popular. During the last hearing, the single bench of the Calcutta High Court asked the investigating agency whether the woman doctor was a victim of “rape” or “gang rape”. The matter came to light when he was sought clarification and asked to submit the case diary.

Judge Tirthankar Ghosh said that a person has already been convicted and sentenced in the crime of rape and murder. Therefore, the investigating agency should clarify that the crime consisted of one or more individuals. The DSG, appearing on behalf of the CBI on Friday, told Justice Ghosh that the agency was currently investigating the involvement of those involved in the incidents after the main crime to hide the incident.

Sanjay Roy sentenced to life imprisonment

The senior advocate present by the state government argued that the state had no objection to the investigation of the alleged allegations of hiding the incident, but the question of the law would be whether the court could reopen the investigation which ended with the conclusion of the trial. Sanjay Roy was sentenced to life imprisonment for his involvement in this crime. The incident came to light after the victim’s parents filed a petition demanding further investigation into the case. Earlier, the Supreme Court had asked the parents to knock the door of the Calcutta High Court to redress their complaints.
