The Indian team recently returned from the tour of Australia, and the players are currently on a break. After the defeats against Australia and New Zealand, the Indian Cricket Board has taken strict action and advised the players struggling with poor form to focus on domestic cricket. Some players who were part of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy can be seen playing with domestic cricketers in the coming days. However, some players who returned from the Australia tour are facing injuries, including young batsman Sarfaraz Khan.
Sarfaraz Khan has been injured before the start of the second phase of Ranji Trophy. He suffered a rib injury during the Australia tour, due to which he will not be able to play the Ranji Trophy match for Mumbai against Jammu and Kashmir from January 23.
The board has shown strictness towards the players who are struggling with poor form and some players who are giving more importance to IPL than domestic cricket. Last year, Kolkata Knight Riders’ IPL-winning captain Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan lost the BCCI central contract for ignoring domestic cricket. Iyer and Kishan have learned from this experience and are playing for Mumbai and Jharkhand respectively across all formats in the current season.
