The licensing process of eateries, restaurants, guest houses and hotels will be simplified. The restaurants and bars of five and three star hotels will remain open till 2 am and all other restaurants and bars till 1 am. This will give a boost to the night culture in Delhi and the process of licensing will also be easier.
The Lieutenant Governor has given gifts to the businessmen on the occasion of New Year. Now the process of getting a license related to catering will be easier in Delhi. This process will be completed in 49 days. At the same time, 28 different types of documents will not have to be given. There will be freedom to spill jam till late night in five star and three star hotels.

This will give a boost to the night culture in Delhi and the process of licensing will also be easier. For this, Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has issued an order.
Online and faceless police clearance certificate will also be available in the license. This step has been taken by the Lieutenant Governor to ensure “Ease of Doing Business” so as to encourage “Night Time Economy”. All restaurants in five star and four star hotels (which will be within airport, railway station and ISBT premises) will be allowed to work on 24×7 basis on payment basis. Hotels will have to take separate licenses for more than one liquor. License fee to be paid for restaurants/bars serving alcohol within the hotel premises.
Various agencies including MCD, Delhi Police, Delhi Fire Service and DPCC will work according to the financial year. License/NOC will have to be issued only in the concurrent financial year ending 31st March. The 21 page license form has been reduced to 9 pages. Time has been fixed for grant of license. The average time for grant of new licenses in Delhi was 3 years so far. A processing fee of Rs 1,000 has to be deposited for the application. Online application form can be submitted. There will be compulsion to complete the investigation of these documents in 10 days. The time to remove the deficiency will be 15 days.
