Aurangabad Grapples With Escalating Water Shortage: Residents Question Effectiveness Of Jal Bell App Amid Rising Demand | Representative Photo

The temperature of the city is rising, and with it, the demand for water from residents is also increasing. Many residents often complain about the irregular water supply by the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC), and they are currently facing a severe water shortage. Amidst these circumstances, the Smart City Development Corporation Ltd, through the Jal Bell App, has claimed that several residents have expressed satisfaction with the city’s water supply.

The corporation has stated that the city has seen an additional water supply over the past year. However, the water supply situation has become more critical as summer approaches. Several localities are not receiving water as consistently as they used to. A few years ago, Smart City introduced the Jal Bell App, which provided residents with information about the time of water supply, interruptions, and other updates. Over 60,000 residents downloaded the app, but complaints were received that the app’s information was not always updated.

It is said that a union team will be visiting the city for the Swacch Sarvekshan Abhiyan. In this context, CSMC is gathering feedback from residents regarding various services. Thus, the Smart City has initiated the Jal Bell survey, residents claim.

Meanwhile, the Smart City has asserted that the survey through the app is receiving a positive response from residents. Many have reported receiving water on time, and in areas where supply is delayed, residents are provided with a tentative time for water delivery.

Smart City recently conducted a survey through the Jal Bell App, and around 20% of residents stated that they were not receiving timely information about the water supply. In such areas, efforts are being made to regularize the water supply timetable. With over 60,000 app downloads, the number of regular users is steadily increasing.
