Recruitment for 305 posts of Steno Assistant Sub-Inspector in Bihar Police: Know the process and details

Bihar Police Under Service Commission (BPSSC) has invited online applications for recruitment to 305 posts of Steno Assistant Sub-Inspector in Home Department (Reserve Branch) of Bihar Government. Only natives of Bihar will be able to avail the benefit of reservation on these posts, whereas candidates from other states can apply in the unreserved category. Last date of application is 17 January 2025.

• Scheduled Caste (SC): 37 posts
• Scheduled Tribe (ST): 6 posts
• Extremely Backward Class (EBC): 59 Posts
• Backward Class (BC): 37 posts
• Backward Class Women: 14 Posts
• Economically Weaker Section (EWS): 31 Posts

Qualification and pay scale

• Educational Qualification: 12th pass or equivalent from recognized board with Diploma in Computer.
• Pay Scale: ₹29,200 to ₹92,300 per month.

selection process

1. Shortlisting: Eligible candidates will be shortlisted after preliminary scrutiny of applications.
2. Written Examination:
   • Total of 300 marks.
   • Two question papers:
     • Paper 1: 100 multiple choice questions (1 mark each).
     • Second Paper: 100 questions (2 marks each).
   • Negative Marking: 0.2 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
   • Time: First Paper 1.5 hours, Second Paper 2 hours.
3. Shorthand and Typing Test:
   • Shorthand: Speed ​​of 80 words per minute.
   • Hindi/English Typing: 30 words per minute.
4. Computer Proficiency Test: Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Internet.
5. Document Verification: Verification of original documents of selected candidates.

• SC/ST/PWD/Women: ₹400
• Fee will be paid through online mode (Debit/Credit Card, Net Banking, UPI).

• Minimum age: 18 years
• Maximum Age: 25 years (as on 1 August 2024).

3. Register:
   • Fill name, nationality, email, mobile number, reservation category, date of birth etc.
   • Please check the information and make necessary corrections before fee payment.
4. Login:
   • Fill the second part of the application form using the registration number and password.
   • Upload name, educational qualification, photo (15-25 KB) and signature of parents.
5. Before submitting the application form, check the information by clicking on edit details.
6. You will receive a confirmation message after submitting the application form.
