How to identify real and fake cheese?
Recently, Dr. Manan Vohra explained the difference between real (dairy) and fake (analog) cheese in her Instagram video.
Real Paneer:
- Is made from milk.
- Protein, calcium and healthy fats are rich.
- It does not contain any type of additive or artificial substances.
Analog cheese:
- Palm is made from cheap substances like oil and starch.
- There is no nutrition due to lack of milk.
- Looks like cheese in appearance but is quite low in quality.
The most adulteration in cheese
Dr. Vohra said that Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has revealed that Paneer is one of the most adulterated foods in the country. To avoid this problem, FSSAI has made it mandatory to write ‘non -dairy products’ on a packet of fake cheese.
Restaurant does not give real information
FSSAI rules are not mandatory for restaurants and hotels. This means that you can easily become a victim of fake cheese by eating outside eating outside or getting cheese through food delivery app.
Doctor’s advice
Dr. Vohra insisted that hotels and restaurants should clearly explain what kind of cheese they are using. This transparency should also reach your plate out of the supermarket.
