Senior BJP leader and former Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Saturday made a big statement about the independence and judicial accountability of the judiciary. He said that the country should believe in the fairness, honesty and transparency of the judges, but at the same time it is necessary to consider judicial accountability.

In response to a question asked on the case of a large amount of cash being recovered from a government residence of a judge of Delhi High Court, Prasad said that the matter is watching the Supreme Court and should wait for the process and verdict of the apex court.

“When I was the Law Minister, we tried to bring the National Judicial Commission (NJAC), but the Supreme Court rejected it. Now the time has come that judicial accountability should also be discussed.”

More sensitivity is important in daughters’ cases

Ravi Shankar Prasad appealed to the judiciary to show more sensitivity in matters related to women and girls. He said that the government is committed to schemes like “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” in the country, so the judiciary should also take special sensitivity in women related matters.

4% Muslim reservation targeted in Karnataka

Ravi Shankar Prasad termed the decision of the Congress government of Karnataka to give 4% reservation to Muslims in government contracts as anti -constitution. He said that this is an attempt to eliminate the rights of other backward classes (OBC).

He clarified,
“The Supreme Court has said many times that no community can be given reservation on the basis of religion and worship method. It is also clear in the Constitution, but Congress is going to such an extent in vote bank politics.”

“During the RJD rule, Bihar was pushed towards anarchy. Nitish Kumar has done a good job for the development of the state as the Chief Minister.”

On the question asked about the Bihar assembly elections, Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the relationship between Nitish Kumar and BJP is old and strong. He said that BJP and JDU will again form a strong government in Bihar.
