Rape Accused Army Personnel To Be Held Soon
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A police team will be sent soon after ongoing festivals to arrest Army Lieutenant Colonel, Varun Pratap Singh who faces rape allegations from a 42-year-old police constable, Mahila Thana Police said here on Friday.
The victim alleges Singh promised marriage and engaged in repeated sexual acts at his Lalghati residence from 2012 to February 2025.
According to Mahila Thana in-charge Anjana Dubey, the victim discovered in February that Singh was already married. Despite this, he reportedly promised to divorce his wife and marry her.
However, he took his transfer to Haldwani, Uttarakhand, avoiding further confrontation. The victim’s complaints to army officers yielded no action, prompting her to file a police report.
Bhopal’s Women Police Station registered the case on Thursday and notified military headquarters. TI Dubey told Free Press that we have sent a letter to military headquarters in Uttarakhand and are seeking an email address for faster communication. A team will be dispatched post-festivities to arrest Singh from his current posting.bh
Woman Molested By Drug Addict
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A man entered a woman’s house from the balcony in daylight on Thursday morning and molested the 25-year-old victim, Kamla Nagar police said here on Friday.
According to the police, the victim was sleeping in her room when the intruder began performing obscene acts. When she screamed, the man panicked and fled, leaving his mobile phone behind.
The woman, who works in a private firm, lives in a rented house with her family. She reported the incident to Kamla Nagar police, explaining that the accused, identified as Ankit Chikla entered her room from the balcony while her family was in another room.
He then proceeded to molest her. Upon hearing her screams, Chikla escaped from the balcony, but dropped his mobile phone in the process. Police have seized the phone as evidence and have launched a search for the accused. They have identified Chikla as a known drug addict and a monitored criminal in the area. An investigation is underway.
Man Held With Knife During Patrol
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A 23-year-old man was arrested by Mangalwara police on late Thursday night for carrying a knife during a foot patrol held in view of Eid festival. At about 10 pm, inspector Ajay Kumar Soni and his team received a tip-off from an informer about a man carrying a knife near Sabzi Mandi.
The suspect, described as wearing a white and blue checkered shirt and blue jeans, was identified as Nawaz alias Arif, from Khargone. He was currently residing near Mangalwara parcel office.
When frisked, police recovered a large sharp knife, which was seized. He was attested under Arms Act. Further investigation revealed that he had a criminal history, with 10 serious cases registered against him, including theft and violation of Explosive Substances Act.
