Actress Ranya Rao was arrested on 3 March on charges of smuggling gold. Sahil Jain, the third accused in the same case, has been sent to the custody of 14 days by the Special Economic Offenses Court. After the detention period ended, the Revenue Intelligence Directorate produced Sahil in the court.

Gold businessman Sahil Jain has been arrested for involvement of Ranya Rao for involvement in smuggled gold disposal. This is the third arrest in this case. Jain was sent to four days police custody for further investigation. Earlier, advocate Madhu Rao, appearing for the Revenue Intelligence Directorate in the Special Economic Offenses Court, said Tarun and Ranya had gone to Dubai about 26 times. Tarun traveled from Dubai to Hyderabad on a ticket booked by Ranya Rao.

Ranya, the half -daughter of senior police officer Ramchandra Rao, was arrested on March 3 on charges of smuggling 14.2 kg of gold. The price of this gold is more than Rs 12.56 crore. On March 27, a session court in Bengaluru rejected the bail plea of the Kannada actress. His bail plea has been rejected for the third time. Earlier, his bail plea was also rejected by the Economic Offenses Special Court and Magistrate Court.
Tarun Raju is the second accused in this case.
The prosecution argued in the court that the actress has confessed to using hawala money to buy gold. The authorities have issued a notice to start a judicial inquiry against him as it will reveal other financial irregularities. Tarun Raju, a close friend of the actress, is the second accused in the case. The court has not yet pronounced his bail plea.
