Supreme Court: There are also boundaries on freedom of expression

The court clarified that every statement cannot be justified in the name of freedom of expression or creativity.

The bench told Allahabadia’s lawyer Abhinav Chandrachud that fundamental rights are not available for free, some responsibilities are also associated with them.

The court said that suggestions should also be taken from the public on this issue, so that a balanced policy can be made that can be reconciled between freedom of expression and morality.

Foreign travel is not allowed, cooperation in first investigation is necessary

However, the Supreme Court refused to allow Ranveer Allahabadia to travel abroad.

The court said that first they would have to give full support in the investigation, only then their request to go abroad will be considered.

Why Ranveer Allahabadia came in controversies?

The controversy over Ranveer Allahabadia erupted when he made obscene remarks about parents and sex in Raina’s show ‘India’s Got Latant’.

During this time he asked a contestant this question:
“Will you like to see your parents having sex every day during the rest of your life or will you join and stop it forever?”

There was anger across the country over this statement, and FIRs were lodged against him in many states.

The Supreme Court earlier gave him interim relief from arrest on 18 February, but at the same time described his remarks as a sign of ‘obscene’ and ‘perverted mentality’.
