Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Tuesday, instructed concerned officers and agencies to immediately implement a new water supply scheme from Ghod Dam under the Jaljeevan Mission for Ranjangaon Ganapati Gram Panchayat in Shirur taluka, Pune district.
Recognising the area’s spiritual significance and rapid migration due to the presence of MIDC and its growing population, he emphasised the urgent need for a large-capacity sewage treatment plant. Funds from the District Planning Committee and the Swachh Bharat Mission will be allocated for the project, while a CSR fund will be raised by entrepreneurs, he added.
Pawar also directed MIDC officials to carry out development works in the area to meet the rising demands of the local community.
A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in his committee room in the Ministry regarding various issues of Ranjangaon Ganapati Gram Panchayat. Here’s what he said
While guiding the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said that Ranjangaon Ganapati, one of the Ashtavinayaks, has become a famous pilgrimage and tourist destination in the state.
“Many industries and businesses have been set up in this area through the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation. Due to this, the number of migrating populations is increasing in the Ranjangaon Ganapati Gram Panchayat area. This growth is putting pressure on the infrastructure of the Gram Panchayat. Along with this, considering the future increase in population, a new water supply scheme should be immediately launched from the Ghod Dam under the Jaljeevan Mission. It is necessary to set up a sewage treatment plant of sufficient capacity to provide necessary civic amenities to the population of Ranjangaon Ganapati Gram Panchayat. The necessary funds for this will be provided from the District Planning Committee, Swachh Bharat Mission, and the share of the Gram Panchayat, while a social responsibility (CSR) fund should be raised by the entrepreneurs,” added Pawar.
He instructed the MIDC officials to carry out the development works suggested by the Gram Panchayats of Ranjangaon Ganapati, Karegaon, and Dhoksawangi through MIDC.
Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar also said that the necessary funds for this will be made available through the state government, while instructing the agencies to submit proposals under the Hiware Water Supply Scheme, keeping in mind the availability of water, population, and increased water needs of the citizens.
