BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla and India’s star batter Virat Kohli met India’s Vice President Jaydeep Dhankar in New Delhi. Shukla shared a photo on social media, expressing his gratitude for the meeting and mentioning Kohli’s presence.

In his post he writes: “Lovely to meet honourable Vice President of India Shri Dhankad ji . Glad to have the company of @imVkohli”

This meeting happened just a day before Delhi’s Ranji Trophy match against Railways at Arun Jaitley Stadium. The match was special as Kohli returned to domestic cricket after nearly 13 years, with his last Ranji game played in November 2012.

Fans gathered in huge numbers to watch Kohli, with over 15,000 people present on Day 1. Long queues stretched around the stadium, and heavy security, including paramilitary forces, was deployed.

Despite precautions, a stampede-like situation occurred, injuring some fans. During the match, a fan breached security in the 12th over to meet Kohli but was quickly restrained. When security started beating the fan, Kohli asked them to let him go.

The atmosphere was electric, with Kohli engaging with fans, urging them to cheer, and making funny gestures. On the field, Railways got all out for 241, while Delhi finished Day 1 at 41/1 in 10 overs.

What’s next for Virat Kohli?
After a tough Australia tour, BCCI advised senior players to play domestic cricket to regain form. Following Rohit Sharma, Kohli joined the Delhi team to prepare for upcoming matches.

After the Ranji game, he will rejoin Team India for a three-match ODI series against England starting from February 6, which will serve as preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy, begins on February 19.
