YouTuber and Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner Elvish Yadav is facing backlash on social media for making ‘racist’ and ‘misogynistic’ comment on Bigg Boss 18 contestant Chum Darang during a podcast with Rajat Dalal. He called Chum’s name ‘ashleel’ and even questioned her role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi.
Elvish said, “Karan Veer ko pakka COVID tha kyunki Chum kisko pasand aati hai bhai, itna taste kiska kharab hota hai? Aur Chum ke toh naam mein hi ashleelta hai. Naam Chum aur kaam Gangubai Kathiawadi mein kiya hai.”
Now, amid criticism, Rajat issued a clarification and stated that whatever they said during the podcast was ‘scripted’. He conducted an ‘Ask Me Anything’ session on Instagram and answered a few questions posted by his fans and followers.
When one of his followers asked him why he used such language during the podcast, Rajat replied, “Jo tumne chize dekhi hai roast vali, woh scripted tha. Hum dono ko script mili thi, ki ye chize bolni hai taaki hype bane (The things you saw in the roast were scripted. Both of us were given a script with specific lines to create hype).”
Rajat added, “Hume nahi pata tha woh chize daal hi denge. Bharosa kar ke chize kari thi jo unhone toda, uska main kuch nahi kar sakta. Elvish ne bhi apne mann se koi chiz nahi boli. Face humare the but shabdh humare nahi the (We had no idea they would actually include those parts. We trusted them, but they broke that trust, and I can’t do anything about it. Even Elvish didn’t say anything on his own. Our faces were there, but the words weren’t ours).”
For those unversed, Elvish had a conversation with Bigg Boss 18 runner-up Rajat on the podcast The Little Adda Company, where he made remarks about Chum. A clip from the podcast is now going viral on Reddit, sparking outrage.
Chum has not reacted to Elvish’s comments. In fact, Elvish has also not commented on the controversy as of now.
On the work front, Elvish is currently seen on the cooking-based show Laughter Chefs – Unlimited Entertainment 2. He is also a gang leader on Roadies season 20 alongside Prince Narula, Neha Dhupia and Rhea Chakraborty.
