Vaibhav Suryavanshi made history last year at the IPL 2025 Mega Auction, becoming the youngest player to earn an IPL contract. The Rajasthan Royals signed the 13-year-old cricketer for ₹1.1 cr. However, Vaibhav is no longer a 13-year-old after he celebrated his 14th birthday on March 27th. The Royals’ social media handle uploaded a video of the youngster’s birthday celebration with the team.
Vaibhav, who set a record during the auction, is yet to make his debut for Rajasthan Royals. Despite the team losing their first two matches, he hasn’t had the opportunity to play in either. Fans are eagerly waiting to see if Vaibhav will finally get a chance to showcase his talent in the upcoming match or at any point during the season. Rajasthan Royals’ next game is against Chennai Super Kings, scheduled to take place in Guwahati on March 30.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s cricket journey so far
Vaibhav’s cricketing journey began at an impressively young age, debuting in the prestigious Ranji Trophy at just 12 years old, where he represented Bihar in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy for Bihar, scoring around 400 runs in just five matches. He made his first-class debut at same age as well.
At 12 years and 284 days, he became the youngest Indian to make a first-class debut since 1986 and the second-youngest to ever feature in a Ranji Trophy game for Bihar.
This remarkable start allowed him to break records previously held by Indian legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh, making him one of the youngest players in the history of India’s first-class domestic competition.
In September this year, Vaibhav played for India U-19 debut in a youth Test match against Australia in Chennai. He hit an impressive 58-ball 104 before getting run out. It was the fastest-ever hundred recorded by an Indian in U-19 Test cricket and the second-fastest overall, after England’s Moeen Ali, who had scored a 56-ball century against Sri Lanka in 2005.
