Jaipur: The ambitious Parvati Kalisindh Chambal Link Project (PKC-ERCP) of Rajasthan has been now renamed on Lord Ram. On the first anniversary of Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha in Ayodhya, the Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal Sharma has renamed the project as Ram Jal Setu Link Project.

Informing this on X, Bhajan Lal Sharma posted” the Rajasthan Government has decided to change the name of Parvati-Kali Sindh-Chambal Link Project to ‘Ram Jal Setu Link Project’.

This historic decision taken respecting the faith of the people is not only a reflection of the religious sentiments of the people, it will also add a new chapter in the water resources management of the state.”

This ambitious project aimed to provide drinking and irrigation water to a population of 3.25 crore in 16 districts of Rajasthan was earlier named as Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP).

After the change of government, it was renamed as Parvati Kali Sindh Chambal Link Project PKC-ERCP as the river linking project of Parvati, Kali Sindh and Chambal rivers was incorporated with metal his. Now, it will be known as Ram Jal Setu Link Project.

PM Narendra Modi had inaugurated the Parvati Kali Sindh Chambal Link Project in a public meeting held near Jaipur on December 17 last year.

On this occasion, MoUs were also signed between Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, as it is a project that involves both the states. The project was a major political issue during the Rajasthan assembly election as the then Congress party was demanding a national status to the project.
