The deadlock over the suspension of six Congress MLAs including Rajasthan Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasara from Rajasthan Vidhan Sabha has intensified as all Congress MLAs spend night in Vidhan Sabha and continue their Dharna on Saturday as well. A statewide agitation was called on by the party on the issue.

The Congress MLAs had started their Dharna following the suspension of six Congress MLAs on Friday. The Speaker Vasudev Devnani had adjourned the day proceedings t just after the suspension until Monday.

Although, efforts were made by the government to call off the sit-in by holding talks with Congress leaders until late on the Friday night, but the issue couldn’t be resolved.

The Congress MLAs spend night in the Vidhansabha. Quilts and mattresses were arranged for the protesting MLAs. Two of them, Sanjay Kumar Jatav and Zakir Hussain Gaisawat were given medical aid as they felt Suger and Blood Pressure problems.

The Dharna was continued on Saturday as well, which was a holiday in the Vidhan Sabha.

Leader of Opposition a Tikaram Julie said, “The government wants to show as if we are responsible for the deadlock, but this is not true, the opposition has only one demand of removing the statements made against Indira Gandhi. The Speaker could have ordered to remove those comments from the proceedings, but you are deliberately provoking the opposition, we had to spend the whole night here, the people of the state are witnessing the stubbornness of the government, we will stay here… until we are heard, we will not leave from here.”

While, the Parliamentary Affairs minister Jogaram Patel said, “Congress is going through internal strife. Their leaders are trying to humiliate each other.  Yesterday the proceedings were going on effectively in the assembly, the ministers were also responding effectively, the opposition was being exposed, that is why they have deliberately done this act, Indira Gandhi was the former Prime Minister of the country, and we all have respect for her.”

Notably, the action was taken on Friday against the MLAs who moved towards the Speaker’s dais in protest against the comment of Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Avinash Gehlot who called Indira Gandhi, the Dadi of Congress.
