The much-anticipated IPL 2025 match between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Gujarat Titans (GT) was brought to a standstill as rain arrived at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on the night of May 6.

After MI posted a competitive total of 155/8, led by Will Jacks’ 53 off 35 balls and Suryakumar Yadav’s 35 off 24, Gujarat Titans started their chase with caution. Despite the early loss of Sai Sudharsan for 5 to Trent Boult, GT recovered steadily. At the end of 14 overs, GT stood at 107/2, with Shubman Gill and Sherfane Rutherford holding fort.

Just as the Titans appeared to be cruising, light rain turned into a steady downpour, forcing the umpires to halt play. The Wankhede ground staff reacted swiftly, rushing covers onto the pitch and protecting the outfield, as players headed back to their dugouts.
