Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): State experienced rain and hailstorms for two consecutive days, with several districts reporting significant rainfall. According to the weather department, dense fog is expected in Ujjain, Gwalior, and Chambal regions over the next three days.

On Sunday, light rain may occur in southern districts like Khargone, Burhanpur, Betul, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Seoni, and Balaghat. Following this, a severe cold wave is likely to grip the state throughout January. The first morning of the new year is expected to be extremely cold.

December 29: Moderate fog expected in districts like Mandsaur, Neemuch, Guna, Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, Gwalior, Datia, Bhind, Morena, and Sheopur. Light rain likely in Khargone, Burhanpur, Betul, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Seoni, and Balaghat.

December 30: Fog to persist in districts including Mandsaur, Neemuch, Guna, Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, Gwalior, Datia, Bhind, Morena, and Sheopur.

December 31: Moderate fog will continue in the same districts.

Weather expert Pradeep Kumar Gupta explained that a western disturbance and cyclonic circulation over northern and western India caused the recent weather changes, resulting in hailstorms and rain. However, rain activity is expected to decrease after Sunday, with only a few districts likely to see light showers.

On Saturday, rain continued across more than half of the state from morning till evening. The heaviest rainfall was recorded in Rewa, where 4.2 inches of rain fell in just 9 hours. Other areas, including Umaria, Narmadapuram, Betul, Jabalpur, Bhopal, Indore, and several districts in western and eastern Madhya Pradesh, also saw significant rain and hailstorms.

Over the past two days, rain affected 42 districts, covering more than 250 towns and cities, including Bhopal, Gwalior, Indore, Ujjain, and Jabalpur. The highest rainfall was recorded in Garoth (Mandsaur) and Satwas (Dewas), with around 2.5 inches of rain. Several areas also experienced strong winds along with hail.

Residents are advised to prepare for colder days as the cold wave sets in across the state.
