These conditions are expected to persist until December 28, with heightened intensity in the coming days.
Dense fog enveloped major cities, including Bhopal and Indore, on Tuesday morning, resulting in reduced visibility and chilly weather. Meanwhile, the Malwa-Nimar region, encompassing 10 districts such as Indore and Ujjain, has been issued a rainfall alert.
Beginning December 27, a strong system is forecasted to bring hailstorms and rains, accompanied by winds blowing at speeds of 40-50 km/h. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for 11 districts, warning of severe weather conditions. This unusual pattern has resulted in a surge in minimum temperatures, with the state experiencing nights 7 degrees Celsius warmer than average.
According to weather experts, rainfall in December has become a recurring phenomenon in Madhya Pradesh. Over the past decade, the state has experienced similar weather patterns. This year, light showers were already recorded in multiple districts earlier this week, with increased intensity expected in the final days of December.

Following the passage of this weather system, the state is likely to experience a sharp drop in temperatures, ushering in a cold wave. This phase is expected to dominate throughout January, bringing freezing conditions typical of late December and early winter months.

Dense fog is likely in Bhopal, Vidisha, Raisen, Sehore, Indore, Ujjain, and surrounding areas.
Hailstorms and rainfall are expected in Raisen, Narmadapuram, Betul, Harda, Burhanpur, Khargone, Chhindwara, and Sagar. Wind speeds of up to 50 km/h may exacerbate conditions.
Widespread rainfall is forecasted for districts such as Bhopal, Vidisha, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, Rewa, Satna, and Jabalpur.
The hailstorm system will shift to eastern and southeastern districts, including Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Seoni, Mandla, and Balaghat.
Moderate rain and thunderstorms are expected in central and western regions, including Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, and Gwalior.
