The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rains for the next five days in 12 states including Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Odisha. Meanwhile, torrential rains lashed several states of the country yesterday, due to which many areas were flooded. Rivers and streams were submerged following heavy rains in several districts of Himachal Pradesh, while nine people died in separate incidents of lightning in UP and Madhya Pradesh.

Forecast of rain in many states

According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, for the next five days, there will be heavy to very heavy rains in most of the eastern and northeastern areas of the country. It includes Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, M.pur, Odisha and Bihar. A five-day heavy rain warning has also been issued in parts of the western and northwestern states of Gujarat, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan.

Yellow alert declared in Himachal

It rained in many areas amid yellow alert in Himachal, in which the Dharampur-Gadkhel-Kasauli road has collapsed due to heavy rains. Along with this, the Kalka-Shimla NH highway was also closed due to landslide. Due to heavy rains, rivers and canals have flooded in many districts of the state. Due to which river rafting and paragliding had to be stopped in Kullu. At the same time, five people died due to lightning in Panna and Tikamgarh districts of Madhya Pradesh amid heavy rain yesterday, while four people died due to lightning in UP’s Bandhaun.

Record of 50 years broken in Ludhiana

Heavy and incessant rains have occurred in 12 districts of Punjab in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, a 50-year-old record was broken in Ludhiana. On July 5, 82.6 mm of rain was recorded here. Earlier in 1972, there was 57.5 mm of rain on July 5.

Woman dies in Goa

Due to heavy rains in Goa, many houses in low-lying areas were flooded. Meanwhile, a 56-year-old woman died due to drowning in flood water.

 

 

Water-bombing situation in several districts of Kerala

Due to heavy rains in Kerala, a situation of water-logging has arisen in many districts. Many areas of Alappuzha district of Kerala have been submerged.

 

Bihar’s Polus station flooded

According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, many districts in Bihar also received heavy rains, due to which many places were flooded. Benta police station in Darbhanga district of Bihar was flooded.
