Railways has decided to convert four trains including Lucknow Intercity and Patliputra from superfast to express category. After reviewing the decrease in the average speed of these trains due to increase in stoppages, the operations department has approved converting these trains from superfast to express. With the approval of the operations department, this change has come into effect with immediate effect. Due to this, while the numbers of trains have changed, the fares have also reduced.

Actually, due to increase in stoppages the average speed of these trains had reduced. Due to low speed, the trains were running like express despite being superfast. In view of this, the operations department has issued an order to convert trains from superfast to express.

After the formation of Express, Superfast charge on the tickets of these trains will be abolished. This will result in savings ranging from Rs 15 to Rs 75. Superfast charge is different for each category. The charge for general ticket is Rs 15 while for First AC it is Rs 75 per passenger.
