For the successful organization of Mahakumbh 2025, Indian Railways has set up a ‘War Room’ at Rail Bhawan in Delhi. This war room will continuously monitor train operations and passenger services through cameras installed at nine major stations of Prayagraj and their surrounding areas. Railway officials said that the aim of this initiative is to ensure convenient and safe travel for crores of devotees coming to Mahakumbh.

War Room methodology and team

This war room established by the Railway Ministry will work 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

  • Staff and experts:
    • More than 24 officers and experts from various fields like commercial, technical and security have been deployed in the war room.
    • These officers will work in three shifts.
  • Live broadcast monitoring:
    • The war room will monitor live feed from cameras installed on platforms and stations.
    • The concerned employees will be alerted to take immediate corrective action if needed.

Major stations and monitoring levels

The Railway Ministry has made special arrangements to handle the rush of devotees at nine major stations in and around Prayagraj.

Monitoring Stations:

  1. Prayagraj Junction
  2. Prayagraj Chhivki
  3. Naini Station
  4. Prayagraj Sangam
  5. Subedarganj
  6. Phaphamau Junction
  7. Prayag Junction
  8. Prayagraj Rambagh Station
  9. Jhunsi station

Multi-level monitoring:

Railways have prepared five levels of monitoring:

  1. Platform level: Live feed via cameras on each platform.
  2. Station level: Monitoring of all platforms at a station.
  3. Division level.
  4. District level.
  5. Zonal level.

The war room located in Delhi will receive data from all these levels and take immediate decisions when needed.

Railways’ extensive preparations for Mahakumbh 2025

Dilip Kumar, Executive Director (Information and Publicity), Railway Board, said that the main objective of the war room is to increase coordination between the district and railway officials.

  • The War Room will ensure:
    • immediate assistance.
    • Efficiency in operations.
  • More than 40 crore devotees are likely to come during Mahakumbh.

Participation of foreign devotees

Railways said that apart from the Indian subcontinent, devotees from more than 100 countries will participate in the Mahakumbh.
