Raigad Collector Kishan Jawale has directed all government and non-government organizations to immediately establish Internal Complaint Committees (ICC) to address workplace sexual harassment cases. Establishments failing to comply may face a penalty of Rs 50,000, as mandated by the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act, 2013.

“The Act requires every government office, semi-government institution, and private establishment with 10 or more employees to form an Internal Complaint Committee to handle harassment complaints. This rule applies to government offices, corporations, educational institutions, and hospitals. Additionally, private businesses, NGOs, trusts, factories, banks, cooperative societies, malls, and other commercial establishments must also adhere to these regulations,” said a statement released by District Information Officer of Raigad.

Many workplaces in Raigad, including schools, hospitals, and industries, have not yet formed ICCs hence the District Collector has urged these establishments to comply immediately and submit a status report to the District Women and Child Development Office.

“Organizations must submit their compliance report to the District Women and Child Development Officer. The office is located at Deep Mahal Bungalow, 2nd Floor, Swami Samarth Nagar, Pimpal Bhat-Chendhare, Raigad-Alibag. Establishments can also submit reports via email at [email protected],” the statement further said.
