Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Several people have set their eyes on the questioning of former constable of the Transport Department, Saurabh Sharma who is remanded in Lokayukta Special Police Establishment (SPE).
Sharma was behind extortions at check posts for a long time. Questioning of Sharma has caused tension to many people, particularly the officers of the Transport Department who have set their eyes on his questioning.
SPE is focusing on how Sharma could earn such a huge amount of money in such a short period of time. It was Sharma who used to control each check post of the Transport Department.
According to sources, Sharma was the mediator in posting officials to check posts. So, those who were transferred to check posts through Sharma and made a huge amount of money by backhand deals are tense.
About Sharma, it is said that he had links with junior and senior officers of the Transport Department.
This is the reason why the officials of this department are spending sleepless nights after Sharma’s arrest. After questioning by SPE, I-T and ED will also put up applications before the court for quizzing Sharma. According to sources, questioning of Sharma by three agencies may reveal many secrets.
Agencies yet to tighten their noose on officials of Transport Department
There are reports that Saurabh Sharma and his accomplices used to loot the check posts. But the probe agencies kept away from laying their hands on any official of the Transport Department, although one month has passed since raids were conducted on Sharma’s residential premises. The state government has only removed transport commissioner DP Gupta after SPE action against Sharma.
