Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Friday won the second consecutive win by defeating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 50 runs. The victory came after 17 years at the Chepock Stadium in Bengaluru, before he defeated Chennai in his house in 2008.
However, after this match, there was a fierce debate about Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s batting position. Former cricketers believe that an experienced batsman like Dhoni should have come to bat above, but CSK management sent him to ninth.
Manoj Tiwari’s big statement: “Do not dare to send Dhoni up in CSK”
Former India cricketer Manoj Tiwari said in a conversation with Cricbuzz that Chennai Super Kings’ coaching staff could not muster the courage to send Dhoni up.
“It is beyond my comprehension that a batsman like MS Dhoni, who could remain unbeaten after scoring 30 runs in just 16 balls, was not sent up? Was the team playing to win?”
He added, “The CSK coaching staff does not have enough courage to tell Dhoni that he should come up and bat. Once Dhoni decided, the same is the final.”
Dhoni broke Suresh Raina’s record
However, Dhoni made another record in this match.
He overtook Suresh Raina, breaking the record of scoring the most runs for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. Dhoni scored 30 not out in 16 balls, but by then CSK’s hopes of victory were almost over.
Coach flaming cleaning
CSK coach Stephen Fleming clarified about Dhoni’s batting position and said,
“Dhoni has been practicing for the last one month and has worked hard on fitness. But when he came to bat, it was very difficult to win.”
