Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): After finding the construction work at both ends of the newly-inaugurated GG Flyover, which was later renamed as Dr BR Ambedkar Setu, unsatisfactory, the Public Works Department (PWD) suspended Divisional Sub Engineer (SE) Umakant Mishra and in-charge assistant engineer (AE) Ravi Shukla from immediate effect on Saturday.
A show-cause notice has been served upon Executive Engineer (EE) Javed Shakeel and Chief Engineer Setu Circle GP Verma. Strict action will be also taken against the contractor.
The action came after PWD Additional Chief Secretary Neeraj Mandloi, accompanied by other officers did inspection and found various loopholes and sub-standard construction at end points of the flyover. The work of the main slab was found sub-standard.
The signs of degradation were palpable at many places of the main slab and track area. Notably, the CM had recently inaugurated this flyover which is 3-km long with four-lane facility. It is constructed at a cost of Rs 154 crore.
During inspection, Mandloi found that riding surface quality and finishing work was not at par. Erosion was detected at two more places of extension point. He also directed to take strict action against the contractor. Penalty will be imposed on the contractor and he will have to carry repair work at his own expense.
