The decision on Superstar Allu Arjun’s regular bail in connection with the FIR registered in the case of death of a woman in the stampede during the premiere of his film ‘Pushpa 2’ has been postponed till January 3, 2025. The actor appeared in the Hyderabad court on Friday through video conferencing and filed a plea for regular bail.

During the premiere of ‘Pushpa-2’ at Sandhya Theater in Hyderabad on December 4, 2024, fans flocked to catch a glimpse of Allu Arjun. The situation worsened so much that a stampede broke out, in which a 35-year-old woman died and her eight-year-old son was injured.

Following the incident, a case was registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Allu Arjun, his security team and the theater management at Chikkadappily police station on the complaint of the deceased woman’s family.

Allu Arjun’s custody and bail

  • 13 December 2024:
    The actor was arrested in this case and produced in Nampally Court, from where he was sent to judicial custody for 14 days.
  • 14 December 2024:
    Telangana High Court granted interim bail of four weeks to Allu Arjun and he was released from jail.

Allu Arjun’s judicial custody ended on Friday, after which he had to appear in the court. The actor appeared through video conferencing and filed his plea for regular bail. The court has reserved its decision on this till January 3, 2025.

Political reaction to the matter

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan gave his reaction regarding the incident.

  • He said that this matter could have been solved easily, but now it has become a disaster.
  • Praising Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, he said that his government does not work like the YSRCP government.
  • Giving a clean chit to the police, Kalyan said that they are always ready to ensure the safety of the people.
  • He also held the theater management and cinema staff responsible for the incident. He said that the management should have told Allu Arjun the seriousness of the situation earlier.

Police case and further process

  • The police have started investigating the matter, holding the theater management and Allu Arjun’s security team responsible for the stampede.
  • The court will give its verdict on the bail plea on January 3.
