Gudi Padwa is a time of new beginnings. How do you usually celebrate this festival?
Gudi Padwa is very special to me because it marks a fresh start, and I love that positive energy. I usually start my day by helping my family put up the Gudi at home – it’s a tradition that makes me feel deeply connected to my roots. We also dress up in traditional outfits, visit the temple, and seek blessings for a happy and successful year ahead.
What are your fondest childhood memories of Gudi Padwa?
As a kid, I used to wake up super early, all excited because Gudi Padwa meant yummy food and family time. I remember my mom making the most delicious Puran Poli, and I would always sneak into the kitchen to steal a bite before it was served. That warmth of home, the festive vibe, and the happiness in the air – those are the memories I’ll always cherish.
Do you follow any special traditions or rituals on this day?
Yes! One thing that has stayed with me is the tradition of eating neem and jaggery in the morning. It’s a mix of bitter and sweet, symbolising that life has both ups and downs, but we must embrace it all. It’s such a beautiful thought. I also try to start something new on this day, whether it’s a small goal or a new project, to bring in good luck.
Are there any special Maharashtrian delicacies you love to indulge in during this festival?
Puran Poli is my all-time favorite. There’s something so comforting about it – it just melts in your mouth. I also love Shrikhand with hot puris.
How do you balance your professional commitments while celebrating festivals with your family?
Honestly, it can be tough, but I make sure to take out time for my family. Even if I have shoots or work commitments, I always start the day with a small puja and video call my loved ones.
Gudi Padwa symbolises prosperity and success. What are your hopes and goals for the new year?
For me, Gudi Padwa is all about positivity and new beginnings. This year, I want to focus on taking up more challenging projects, growing as a person, and staying grateful for everything I have. I also hope to spend more time with my family.
