Different types of halwa, like moong dal, carrot, semolina, flour and gram flour halwa, are made in every household. But this time why not make Punjab’s famous Makhandi Halwa? This instant halwa melts in the mouth. Let us know the simple recipe to make it.

Ingredients required to make Makhandi Halwa

  • Fine grained semolina: 1/2 cup
  • Milk: 2-3 cups
  • Cardamom Powder: 1/2 tsp
  • Dry fruits (cashew nuts, almonds, raisins, chironji etc.): 1/4 cup
  • Desi Ghee: 2-3 spoons
  • Sugar: as per taste

With these ingredients you can make halwa for about four people.

How to make Makhandi Halwa

  1. mixture of semolina and milk: Take 1/2 cup semolina in a big bowl and add about 2 cups milk to it and mix well. Leave this mixture for about an hour.
  2. Ghee and dry fruits: Heat a pan, then add desi ghee in it. Lightly fry the chopped dry fruits in it, then keep them in a separate vessel.
  3. making pudding: Now heat desi ghee in the pan. When the ghee becomes hot, add the paste prepared from semolina and milk to it. Keep stirring it continuously until the mixture turns light brown and stops sticking to the bottom of the pan. Then take it out in a vessel.
  4. sugar syrup: Put some ghee in the pan, then add sugar in it and cook it while stirring with a spoon until a syrup is formed.
  5. mix everything: Now add roasted mixture of semolina and milk and cardamom powder and mix well. After cooking for some time, turn off the gas.
  6. Garnish and serve: Khandi Halwa is ready! Garnish it with dry fruits and serve hot.
