Chandigarh: Even as farmers held protests in several districts of Punjab against the protesters’ eviction from Punjab’s Shambhu and Khanauri barrier protest sites on Wednesday night, the one side of the said barriers was opened for traffic on Thursday.
A group of farmers were detained in Sangrur, the home district chief minister Bhagwant Mann, after they held a protest against the farmers’ eviction outside deputy commissioner’s (DC’s) office. Similar protests were also reported from the Salemgarh, Bhawanigarh and Sulargharat areas of Sangrur district where dozens of farm leaders were detained.
According to information, a group of farm leaders was also detained in Tarn Taran after the farmers tried to block the national highway No 54.
Likewise, about 200 farmers were also detained in Faridkot after they tried to block the national highway No 15. Likewise several farmers were detained – who held a protest – were detained from Gurdaspur and Bathinda.
Meanwhile, the internet services which remained suspended since Tuesday night, were also restored in Patiala on Thursday.
