Chandigarh: Punjab police Thursday dismissed woman constable Amandeep Kaur, from service, a day after she was caught with 17.71 gram heroin in Bathinda amid the Punjab govt’s ongoing drive `yudh nasheyan virudh’ (war against drugs).

The accused Amandeep, who was earlier sent to one-day police remand on Thursday was again presented before a Bathinda court by the police on Friday where she was again sent to two-more days’ police remand.

Constable Amandeep had caught attention with her flamboyant lifestyle as she often posted reels with her Thar on Instagram where she has over 30,000 followers.

Elaborating on the case, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Headquarters, Sukhchain Singh Gill said that the accused constable was arrested after 17.71 grams of heroin was recovered from the Mahindra Thar, she was driving. Stating that her vehicle has also been impounded, the IGP said the accused was temporarily posted at police lines, Bathinda.

The IGP said that police teams are also conducting thorough investigations into the assets and properties acquired by the accused.

Meanwhile, according to media reports, the accused lady constable was on police radar as a suspect transporting heroin in the area but escaped police eye as she drove vehicles which bore Punjab police stickers and even reportedly did not allow cops to inspect her vehicle when stopped claiming that she was also a cop.

Meanwhile, one Gurmeet Kaur, also took to Facebook to claim that her husband had been living with the accused Amandeep since the past three years. Stating that her husband Balwinder Singh, drove an ambulance, Gurmeet Kaur held that he used the ambulance to sell heroin. According to reports, the accused Amandeep had got married in 2015 and that her husband was later jailed in a rape case.

Gurmeet Kaur went on to claim that the two had also carried 1.3 kg of “chitta’’ in a car and when police was informed about it and the police stopped them, she did not allow the cops to search the vehicle.

Gurmeet Kaur also held that the accused constable had also tried to implicate her by placing half-a-kg of “bhukki’’ narcotic at her tea stall, but could not succeed because of the CCTV camera installed there. She further alleged that the accused later framed her in a false theft case.

Police said that a thorough probe is underway to investigate Amandeep’s properties and assets acquired through proceeds from drug smuggling. Sources, however, held that she also owned luxury cars including an Audi, two Innova cars, besides Thar, and a house worth over Rs 2 crore.
