Chandigarh: After being named in the FIR registered in the drug case, former police officer Rajjit Singh Hundal has filed a petition in the High Court demanding that the investigation be handed over to the CBI. Raising questions on the petition, the High Court said that why the petition is not filed directly regarding the demand for anticipatory bail.
While filing the petition, Rajjit Singh said that the entire action taken against him is completely wrong. The order to dismiss them has also been issued in violation of the rules. The process of declaring the petitioner a fugitive and the look out notice against him has also been issued against the prescribed procedure.
The Punjab Haryana High Court had issued an order to investigate drugs in the state. Whose 4 reports were lying in sealed envelopes in the High Court for many years. After which, on March 29 this year, the High Court issued orders to the Punjab government to take action on three out of four files. These three files reached the Punjab government on 5th April. Taking the first action, AIG Rajjit Singh was dismissed and Vigilance was ordered to investigate him. After this action of the government, Rajjit Singh is continuously absconding.
According to police officials, STF has not yet been able to trace the whereabouts of sacked police officer Rajjit Singh. Continuous raids were conducted by police teams in Punjab, Chandigarh and Delhi in search of the former SSP, but the hands of the police are still empty.
STF has obtained arrest warrant from Mohali court. Police officials said that after this the process to declare Rajjit Singh as a proclaimed offender will be initiated in the court. According to the information, Rajjit Singh has held the post of SHO to District Police Chief, so he has full knowledge of how to protect himself from the police.
Rajjit Singh has also been named by the then STF chief Harpreet Singh Sidhu in the drug trafficking case registered against Inspector (retd) Inderjit Singh. According to the SIT report, ransom was collected by implicating innocent people in drug trafficking cases. The SIT has not named any police officer other than Rajjit Singh in its report but it has definitely said that further investigation is needed in the matter. LOC has been issued against sacked AIG Rajjit Singh named in the drug case.
