Punjab Police constable Amandeep Kaur was arrested on Wednesday after 17.7 grams of heroin was recovered from her car in Bhatinda. Kaur was dismissed from the service on Thursday. The Punjab Police along with the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) acted on a tip-off.

The officials intercepted her Thar near the Badal flyover in Bathinda. Upon searching her car, the police found 17.71 gm of heroin in her possession. At the time of her arrest, she was reportedly attached to Bathinda Police Lines.

DSP Harbans Singh’s Statement:

“Amandeep Kaur, who was serving as a constable in the police lines, was arrested by Bathinda Police near Nanhi Cha Chowk on Badal Road after 17.71 grams of Chitta was recovered from her. Following the seizure, she has been taken into custody, and a case has been registered. Initial legal proceedings have begun,” DSP Harband Singh Dhaliwal said asquoted by IANS.

She was active on Instagram with over 30,000 followers. She used to flaunt her uniform, luxury watches and cars in reels. Notably, Punjab Police personnel are banned from creating and sharing reels in uniform on social media.

Kaur was arrested while coming from the side of a chowk which is also named ‘Laadli Dhee’, reported The Times of India. The operation was led by Bathinda Sadar SHO Anubhav Jain.

As per the report, heroin was recovered from a black Mahindra Thar. She was reportedly driving the car at the time of her arrest. “CM Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab govt has issued strict directives to dismiss any personnel found involved in drugs-related cases. Acting promptly Mansa SSP Bhagirath Meena has dismissed lady constable Amandeep Kaur from service, following due procedure,” Inspector General (headquarters) Sukhchain Singh Gill said as quoted by TOI.

A detailed investigation has been launched. Police teams are conducting thorough probe into the properties and assets acquired by Kaur.
