Pune Weather Update: Punekars Shiver As Minimum Temperature Drops To Single Digits In Shivajinagar | Anand Chaini

Punekars experienced the season’s chilliest morning on Wednesday, with the minimum temperature plunging to 9.9 degrees Celsius in Shivajinagar, 9.1 in Haveli, and 8.9 at NDA, according to data shared on X (formerly Twitter) by KS Hosalikar, head of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Pune.

The IMD has attributed the dip in temperature to the presence of north and north-western winds and clear sky conditions, which have accelerated the cooling of the earth’s surface.

The IMD also said Pune’s current temperature pattern will continue for the next few days. While daytime temperatures have remained higher, rapid cooling at night has intensified the chill factor.

Speaking to The Free Press Journal, Anupam Kashyapi, former head of IMD Pune’s weather forecasting division, said a deep depression is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm, named ‘Fengal,’ over the southwest Bay of Bengal. It is expected to move north-northwest, primarily affecting Tamil Nadu, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and Kerala. The system is likely to skirt the coastline, impacting South Gangetic West Bengal by November 29-30.

No clouding is expected in Maharashtra due to this system. In fact, the cyclonic storm is likely to deplete moisture from Maharashtra and Central India, enhancing the flow of northerly winds. Consequently, a further dip in night temperatures is expected. “Be careful,” Kashyapi advised.
