In India, the word ‘bouncer’ doesn’t only appear while discussing a cricket. A person who doesn’t get a joke, or an obvious point is often teased for having faced a bouncer as words don’t really touch his brain cells as they whoosh past him above his head. What remains is an awkward silence followed by crazy laughter directed at the guy who doesn’t get it till that very moment.

Welcome to the online version of it.

A user on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) tagged Pune Traffic Police. The post contained an image of a bike with two riders. The X user tells the police that the bike does not have a valid numberplate showing the full registration number.

Common sense would dictate the police would take cognisance and would reply with some officialese. But Pune Police managed to create and get caught in a Catch-22.

The reply from the official handle said, “No action can be taken as the complete number of the vehicle is not there.”

Isn’t the numberplate itself the issue to start with? Aren’t the police expressing inability to process complaint about a numberplate because of the numberplate? Quite a situation.

Netizens were in splits over a ‘sarkari’ department completely missing the point. As the time of publishing of this story the post was liked by a thousand users. There are nearly 100 comments.

The police department eventually got the point and said that concerned department was conveyed about this.
