Pune SHOCKER: BJP MLC Amit Gorkhe’s PA’s Pregnant Wife Dies After Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital Denies Admission Over ₹10 Lakh Deposit Despite Mantralaya Call – Know Full Story | X/@DMHospitalPune
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLC Amit Gorkhe, in a video message on X (formerly Twitter), has claimed that the pregnant wife of his personal secretary died after Pune’s Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital refused to admit her due to non-payment of advance deposit of ₹10 lakh.
“Despite an assurance to pay ₹3 lakh immediately, the hospital denied admission to the patient. Even a call was made from Mantralaya to the hospital, but it did not yield any response,” Gorkhe alleged.
“The woman was later taken to another hospital, where she gave birth to twin girls but passed away. This is a serious issue. I request the chief minister to take strict action against the hospital. I will also raise this matter in the upcoming legislative session,” he added.
Gorkhe later met with the top brass of the Pune Police and demanded that the guilty doctors be immediately suspended and a case be registered against them. He said an investigation should be conducted into the “extortion” that is being done despite being a charitable hospital. He further mentioned that the victims should get justice and compensation.
Politicians react:
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sushma Andhare took to X and slammed the hospital. “Had the hospital administration shown some humanitarian consideration, Tanisha Bhise (the deceased) might have been alive today,” Andhare stated.
BJP MLC Chitra Wagh criticised the hospital’s action and sought action, including revoking the licences of doctors or hospitals found guilty of such behaviour. “If this is the treatment meted out to someone close to a legislator, one can only imagine the plight of ordinary patients,” she said.
NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule demanded that there should be a law that no mother should be denied treatment during pregnancy. “The government should take a serious note of this entire matter and conduct a thorough investigation. Apart from this, definite guidelines should be given to all hospitals in the state so that incidents of denying services to patients who need urgent treatment just for money do not happen again,” she added.
Several other politicians, including NCP-SP MP Amol Kolhe and NCP-SP Maharashtra President Jayant Patil, have demanded action against the hospital.
Hospital denies allegation:
The hospital has refuted the allegations and blamed the woman’s kin for giving “misleading information.” “We will prepare a detailed report about the incident and will submit it to the health department of the state. The report will have detailed medical information about the incident which was concealed by the kin of the deceased woman,” said Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital Medical Director Dr Dhananjay Kelkar.
