On Tuesday, February 25, 2025, a 26 -year -old girl was raped at the Swargate bus station in Pune. Now the police has arrested the accused in this case. Police took the accused Dattatreya Gade into custody from Shirur Tehsil of Pune city. The accused has also been registered with cases of theft, chain snatching and robbery earlier. He has also been arrested in a case and has been out on bail since 2019.
Arrested at midnight:
Police detained the accused Dattatreya Gade at midnight. Police forces were deployed at several places in the state to arrest them. To catch the accused, 8 teams of police used search dogs and drones while conducting a search operation. It is worth noting here that 37 -year -old accused Dattatreya Ramdas Gade is a history sheeter. He was also booked for theft in 2024, due to which he was called to the police station.
The incident took place at around 5.30 am on Tuesday morning. A young woman working in Pune was standing at the Swargate bus stand to go to her village. This bus stand is considered one of the busiest bus stands in Pune. Buses for the entire state leave from here. The girl was standing at the bus stand to go to her village Futlan, when the accused came there, addressed her as Didi and asked where she wanted to go. As soon as the girl named the place, she misled that the bus there is standing on the other side and took her to the other side of the bus stand.
Run and run away
The accused took the victim into a bus and first took a scuffle with the woman, but the accused explained to her that this is the bus. The lights inside the bus were closed. As soon as the girl climbed into the bus, the accused also climbed the bus behind her and raped her and ran away. The girl told her friend about the incident and then lodged a police complaint.
