Pune Viral: Kothrud Flooded With Banners Despite Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol’s Appeal; Netizens Criticize, Say ‘Politicians Only Preach’ | X/@Sachinshaha

Politicians in Pune have frequently raised their voices against illegal banners defacing the city. Recently, newly-elected Kasba Peth MLA Hemant Rasane resolved to make his constituency hoarding-free. He made this resolution at the ‘Swachata Narayan Mahapuja’ and also took down one unauthorised banner in Shanivar Peth by himself. However, banners are still rampant in Kasba Peth.

Earlier, when Pune MP Murlidhar Mohol became the Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Corporation, he appealed to his supporters not to put up any banners congratulating him. However, they did not heed his appeal.

Meanwhile, Punekars on X (formerly Twitter) are up in arms over this persistent issue. Tagging Shivajinagar MLA Siddharth Shirole, Pune Cantonment MLA Sunil Kamble, Kothrud MLA and Maharashtra Minister Chandrakant Patil, and Parvati MLA and Maharashtra Minister Madhuri Misal, a user wrote, “Remove all illegal hoardings in Pune. Balbharti Chowk has 12 plus hoardings flouting norms by covering trees and are next to each other. Hoardings on SB Road, Baner Main Road, Camp, etc. are flouting norms.”

“Kothrud is always covered with over 1000s of flex all the time. Leaders @mohol_murlidhar @ChDadaPatil who are supposed to lead by example & urge people not to put up banners they are only leading to deface #Pune & making a mockery of law, environment & our votes. @PMCPune also can’t do much,” commented another user, sharing pictures.

“These politicians will only give lectures. But will not act accordingly. When we bring it to their notice they say what can we do ‘Karykarte’ are not listening to us. In fact, these politicians are hungry for such things,” a third user stated.

A fourth user wrote, “It’s not just Pune this contagious disease has spread everywhere defacing the village/town/city.”
