Malpani’s Bakelite, the leading and trusted food processing and bakery brand, has achieved a major milestone by processing an impressive 25 crore cream rolls since its inception.
Bakelite Food Processing Pvt. Ltd., a prominent name in the bakery industry based in Pune, has been offering pure vegetarian bakery products for over two decades. The brand reached this remarkable milestone in its 25th year, having been established in 1999, and continues to grow.
Cream rolls have become a cherished staple in many Indian households, offering a sense of familiarity and joy. The demand for cream rolls in India has surged in recent years due to several factors. The unique combination of flavours and textures appeals to Indian consumers, while the influence of Western culture has contributed to the growth of the cream roll market. Additionally, rising disposable incomes have enabled more people to indulge in sweet treats, further driving demand.
Sachin Malpani, Managing Director, Bakelite Food Processing Pvt. Ltd., entered the bakery business with the goal of providing 100% pure vegetarian products. Despite the industry still being largely unorganised, with many local players selling items like cream rolls, khari, toast and jeera butter, there are significant hygiene and safety concerns. The segment is dominated by bakeries that sell both vegetarian and non-vegetarian products, limiting options for strictly vegetarian consumers.
Commenting on the milestone, Malpani said, “The cream roll is not merely a dessert; it’s a symbol of emotional fulfilment in the modern world. Bakelite plans to launch new products that blend modernity with tradition, always adhering to the ‘Shuddh Shakahari’ philosophy. For Bakelite, the cream roll is not just a dessert—it enhances tea time, offers a sweet escape, and provides a moment of serenity amidst the chaos. It helps build bonds and strengthens friendships.”
