Proposal To Name Pune Airport After Sant Tukaram Approved; Netizens Ask, ‘Why Not Bajirao Peshwa Or Rajmata Jijau? | Sourced

Pune Airport, in coordination with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), airlines and the Indian Air Force (IAF), conducted an emergency blackout drill on Saturday at 8:30pm for a duration of 30 minutes.

In a statement released to the media ahead of the drill, it was stated that the exercise “is designed to test the airport’s emergency response procedures, ensuring preparedness in the event of an emergency.”

“The drill will involve a complete shutdown of airport lighting and power systems. All ground operations, including aircraft servicing and baggage handling, will be halted during the drill period. Incoming flights will be instructed to hover for 20-30 minutes, awaiting clearance to land,” added the release.

“The drill aims to evaluate the airport’s ability to respond to emergencies, ensure effective communication and coordination among airport authorities, airlines and air traffic control, and identify areas for improvement in emergency response procedures,” it further said.
